Library table at Abiquiu Farmer's Market! Our library apricots are ripe! We'll have apricots to share, slightly used gardening related books to give away, and news of our still evolving Heritage Fruit Share and Care Project. Stop by the Abiquiu Farmer's Market and say hi! Friday August 9. Noon-1:00 pm Monthly Library Board of Directors Meeting. Visitors welcome to this open meeting. Sunday August 25. Noon Library Float in San Juan Nepomuceno Parish Fiesta Parade Our theme: Adventure Begins in A Good Book. Call the library if you can volunteer to make paper flowers for the float: 575-581-4608. We could use donations of wrapped candies. Saturday August 31. 1:00-3:00 pm Ice Cream Social and Show & Tell. Come enjoy an end-of-summer ice cream treat while enjoying a light-hearted new library event. We're inviting a slew of community members who have donated unusual items to the library to come share their stories of why they came to the library with their treasurers. You'll be intrigued, delighted, amused, and you'll hopefully be impressed with the diversity of abilities, interests and passions in our wonderful library community. We Love our Library Story and Music Hour with a STEAM twist Discontinued for Summer, Resume Sept., 2024 Story Hour is for our youngest community members and their caregivers. Ages 2 - 5 encouraged. Harvest your homegrown fruit and bring it to share with the community. We'll have a cider press on site so bring your apple varieties to turn into fresh cider, apple bobbing for fun, a judged fruit pie competition, music. A Developing Project will focus on historic fruit growing in Northern NM. Stay tuned! A Planned Oral History Project for El Rito Underway mid-April 2024. A New Traveling Exhibit We Created A grant from the Northern New Mexico National Heritage Area helped the El Rito Library create three new exhibit banner stands which we'll soon be transporting to schools and community meetings to talk about our community's fascinating natural and cultural history. An Archaeology Conference We Held In September 2018 our library offered public presentations by archaeologists detailing studies of two interesting local sites, prehistoric Sapawe and historic Casita.
